We went to Aria on Saturday night to celebrate Nicole’s birthday. We took advantage of the pre-theatre dinner option (one course $42, two courses $68, three courses, $85) where we started at 5pm sharp, to be out by 7pm (we were still eating dessert at 7, so we left at about 7.30, but we didn’t feel rushed at all by the waitstaff). It’s great eating at the Nanna and Poppa time of 5 o’clock, because the night is still young after you finish (see Nicole’s Birthday (Part Two) for the rest of the night’s high jinks!)
Not only is the view amazing, but the food is also divine! This is what I had:
Entree of oysters- six freshly shucked Sydney rock with chorizo, tomato and crispy potato
Main: Spatchcock poached with bok choy, cucumber, shitake mushrooms and coriander broth

Dessert: Valrhona Chocloate- rich chocolate délice with chocolate sorbet

In case you’re interested, this is the desert that Poh and Julie had to make in the final of Master Chef (the tempered chocolate log was the undoing of Poh, cause she didn’t stick it in the blast freezer thingy, as the recipe directed)
Mr Spotted Pufferfish had the salad of marinated eggplant, jamón, roasted o coutos peppers, Queso Iberico cheese and sherry vinegar,
Barramundi- sourdough crusted fillet of barramundi with silverbeet, smoked eel and horseradish and,

the Pina Colada- pineapple with piña colada sorbet and coconut tapioca

We also had the truffled potato mash (mmmm truffle oil!) and a side of beans, and for desert a dish of petit fours. The lemon tart was so deliciously crunchy and sugary, and I also loved the chocolate peppermint truffle (I could have left the pistachio and cranberry nougat, because I’m not a big nougat fan)
